Stove needed to feed the needy
The Women Action Group (WAG) of Mount Pleasant has a burning need for a new stove.
WAG is a registered NGO, and the community programmes it runs include support groups for children and adults, educational workshops, and a feeding scheme to support HIV-infected and -affected families.
The nutritional centre provides meals three days a week for orphaned and vulnerable children, families living in poverty, and those dealing with HIV.
Carmen Titus, programme manager for WAG, says: “We desperately need a stove, as our current two-plate stove has only one working plate, which means we can cook with only one pot per day.”
The group is also in need of educational toys for the children, as well as stationery, appliances for the nutritional centre, safety clothing for the staff and children, and office equipment.
Donations of money are also welcome, and can be made to the Women Action Group at Absa (Cheque account number 4060443333, Hermanus branch).
To assist, or for more information, contact Carmen Titus on 072 342 8297 or 028 313 2938.
