Well-known Hermanus criminal apprehended
A well-known criminal is behind bars, thanks to the vigilance of two patrolling Hermanus security officers.
Hermanus Public Protection (HPP, which is staffed and managed by Fidelity ADT) officers Sipho Holomisa and Rorisang Khahleli were patrolling along the Westcliffe area recently when they spotted a well-known housebreaker in Flower Street. They also noticed that the suspect was suspiciously trying to hide an item that he was carrying at the time.
“The officers stopped and confronted the suspect and asked to search him,” says Marius Boshoff, Hermanus branch manager for Fidelity ADT. They found a laptop and a bag in his possession which they suspected to be stolen items.
“Hermanus SAPS was called to the scene, and they established that the items were linked to a burglary that had earlier been reported in Main Road. Well done to the two officers who followed their training by being on the lookout for any suspicious activity,” says Boshoff.
This vigilance and awareness, says Boshoff, should also be an example to everyone else in Hermanus.
“Criminals are always on the lookout for easy opportunities, such as an unlocked gate or even an open window. Never let your guard down, and raise the alarm immediately if you see anything suspicious in your community,” says Boshoff.
