Atlantics Rugby Club in Hermanus Received a Sports Donation
Lord’s Taverners UK, the largest sporting charity in Britain for disabled and disadvantaged children, extended their support to Atlantics Rugby Club in Hermanus by generously donating sports equipment.
Isak Henecke and Marquine Lukas of Atlantics Rugby Club had much to smile about when David Ralph of the South African chapter of Lord’s Taverners handed a donation of sporting equipment over to the club recently.
This benevolent gesture materialized when Michael Charton suggested that the organization contribute equipment to a local rugby club using the proceeds from their hosted event. David Ralph from the South African chapter of Lord’s Taverners subsequently met with Isak Henecke and Marquine Lukas of Atlantics, who provided him with a list of much-needed equipment for the club.
Ralph recounted, “I approached Performance Brands, the local agents for the Gilbert brand, who provided most of the equipment at a highly competitive price. They even contributed a few practice balls. Additionally, the pole protectors were donated by SACS school in Cape Town and expertly refurbished by a company called Sew Extreme outside Bot River. Morné du Plessis also autographed a match ball, which was presented to Henecke.”
Expressing gratitude, Lukas thanked Lord’s Taverners for their donation, stating, “Atlantics Rugby Club deeply appreciates this generous gesture. It holds immense value and will significantly impact our club and the broader community.”
