Second book for young author
Mitzi Buys Meagan Krige, a 15-year-old Grade 10 learner at Overberg High School in Caledon, has published her second book The Adventures of Rufus.
“I love the bush and am very fortunate that I have been able to go on many bush expeditions with my family. I am also passionate about photography, especially wildlife photography. My first book Bush Holiday, as well as this new one, are aimed at younger readers.
“The Adventures of Rufus was inspired by the canine anti-poaching unit in the Kruger National Park. I contacted the authorities at the park for information and photos, which they kindly sent to me. All other wildlife photos were taken by me.”
Not only does the book tell the amazing story about the anti-poaching unit, it also includes comprehensive lists of animals and birds.
Although the book was printed primarily for family and friends, she says should there be a demand for it, she would consider another print run. The Adventures of Rufus was edited by Dr Marilyn Holloway, Meagan’s mentor who gave her much needed moral support throughout the process.
