2 arrests for Hermanus Public Protection
Two suspects were arrested in separate incidents in August thanks to the efforts of Hermanus Public Protection’s (HPP) team of security officers. HPP is staffed and managed by ADT Security.
In the first incident (on Friday August 5th 2016), a women was arrested for suspected shoplifting after she and an alleged accomplice were spotted by HPP officer Hans Meiring. The two suspects tried to evade apprehension but officer Meiring and his colleague officer Zukisa Khwatsha managed to arrest one of them. She was handed over into the custody of Hermanus SAPS.
Another arrest was carried out by HPP officers a week later, when they responded to an alert from a member of the public in the Northcliff area. The concerned resident reported seeing a suspicious acting individual leaving a property in the area. A description of the suspect was promptly broadcast to all HPP patrollers in the area.
“HPP officer Thembinkosi Sineke was patrolling in Voelklip when he was stopped by a resident who reported that someone had tried to gain access to his house. The description of this suspect matched the description broadcast earlier,” says ADT’s Hermanus Branch Manager Marius Boshoff.
The suspect was later tracked down by HPP officers and arrested. He was handed over into the custody of Hermanus SAPS and will be facing a charge of trespassing after he was positively identified by the resident in Voelklip.
“Well done to our HPP patrollers who are doing their best to be alert to crime in Hermanus. It is their hard work and our excellent relationship with the SAPS that will keep this town and its people safe,” says Boshoff.
