Local officer cleans up – literally
A Hermanus security officer has received praise from a member of the public recently after he was spotted cleaning up a footpath in the Roman Rock area from items that had been dumped there.
“Zibekile Zoya [pictured] is a member of the Hermanus Public Protection (HPP) team and was on patrol between Marine Pool and Roman Rock last week when he came across an old suit holder case next to the path. He took it upon himself to pick it up and deposit it in the closest refuse bin,” explains Marius Boshoff, Hermanus branch manager at Fidelity ADT.
A local resident happened to spot what officer Zoya was doing, and approached him with words of appreciation.
“Picking up items dumped along the side of the road may appear to be a small act, but it makes a difference at the end of the day to help keep our town clean and neat. The local resident thanked Zibekile for what he was doing, and proceeded to join him in cleaning up the pathway of other items that had been dumped,” says Boshoff.
“Getting involved and making a difference in Hermanus can take many forms. If we all roll up our sleeves and find ways of making big or even small positive changes, we can leave behind an even better Hermanus for generations to come. Well done Zibekile, we are proud to have you on the team.”
HPP is staffed and managed by Fidelity ADT.
