L2L makes fund application call
Over the past year the Lighthouse 2 Lighthouse Ladies (L2L) raised more than R600 000 with their 2021 walk for Hermanus Child and Family Services (R588 124,35) and Overstrand Hospice (R35 099,77).
“Our midweek walks raised more than R30 000 to be distributed among the remaining applicants for 2021,” says Dr Michele Serfontein, chairperson of L2L. “It is with great anticipation that we announce the call for applications for funding for 2022 is officially open.”
According to Serfontein any non-profit organisation within the Overstrand Municipal District is welcome to apply for funding by downloading and completing the relevant application forms – see www.lighthouse2lighthouse.co.za/charities for details.
Applications opened on Friday 2 July. Closing date for the applications is Friday 30 July at 17:00. All queries to be emailed to admin@lighthouse2lighthouse.co.za.
“Applicants need to specify the project for which funding is required. Details of the project need to be included in the application. The project needs to be realistic and viable, and has to be completed within the year following the handover of funds. The application needs to indicate the organisation’s target group (and it’s size) and the community that will benefit from the project.
“Applicants will also be required to submit a video appealing to the L2L ladies and the Overstrand community to raise funds for their specific project.”
The video will need to include information about the charity and the work it does in the Overstrand.
A compulsory briefing session was held via zoom on Monday, 12 July. The link will be sent to all charitable organisations whose applications were received on 30 July.
The briefing will highlight the important elements of the application documents and explain what is expected from applicants when completing the forms.
L2L was established in 2006 in response to much-needed support for responding to very real needs within the Overstrand municipal district.
Since then, the organisation and its passionate walking ladies have raised more than R5 million in aid of various charitable organisations in the district.
