Brian McFarlane, Hermanus’s own international fishing champion, has returned home victorious once more with his South African teammates after the country came first in the Third World Championship Shore Angling Pair (Duos) competition this month.
The event, held in Troia, Grândola, Portugal, from 13 – 20 November, involved teams from eight countries, with South Africa taking gold for the first time, followed by France and Spain.
In 2019, hosts South Africa came second in the Sport Fishing World Games’ Third World Championship, during which Brian and his pairs teammate at the time, Charl Marais, scooped silver in the men’s senior pairs event.
