Simply Asia Hermanus Gets ‘Glassy’
Simply Asia Hermanus Gets Glassy
There is a new kid on the block, and he comes sporting clean chef whites and some mad wok skills! This is what any local or visitor is to expect when walking into the very new Simply Asia in Hermanus, even better is that they now have their liquor license!
Dim Sum and a glass of Sauv, chi pord <- That’s “yes please” in Thai!
The restaurant is well positioned to give you a birds-eye view of all the daily activities in the central part of town. On a perfect summer day you can easily find a spot outside or opt for a more cozy dining experience inside.
The glass window by the kitchen allows you to watch as meals are prepared in style and flair. Add some Thai background music and a really friendly waiter to the mix and you’re transported to the land of smiles in an instant!
The menu ranges from noodles to rice, vegetarian to seafood, all sporting exotic names and flavours.
We started with Taud-Man Khao-Phod (Sweet Corn Cakes) which are clusters of sweet corn served with sweet chilli sauce. Our honest opinion, order your own plate, it tastes so good that sharing is not really an option.
Next was the Kyew-Teow Geang Khew-Wan Gra-Prao Pesto (Thai
Green Curry Pesto Noodles). If you are looking for a change from the traditional Thai Green Curry then this is the perfect alternative. This noodle dish has dashes of Thai green curry paste, wokked together with tomato, broccoli and a dash of mint. Remember you have the option of either chicken or beef!
Phad Med Nam-Man-Hoi (Cashew Nut Stir-Fry) was the second main we ordered. It was a mix of onions, red and green peppers, spring onions, cashew nuts all flavored with fried garlic and tossed in a stir-fry sauce. Delicious!
Linguine Phad Tom Yum (Tom Yum Prawn Linguine) was the last order. The dish was a combination of prawns, stir-fried with mushroom, lemon grass, spring onion, onion, fresh garlic and tomato in roasted chilli and Tom Yum paste. Very, very tasty!
If you are watching your figure, you can swap standard noodles for mung bean noodles, a gluten free alternative that tastes just like the real deal!
Be on the lookout for their lunch for less. R55 gets you any Thai or noodle dish, weekdays from 12 till 4pm. Seems like you can now have that glass of wine or two after all!
Expect great service, food and drinks this summer that will have you returning to Thailand over and over again without ever boarding a plane!
