The Book we have our Nose in this Month is….
Burial Rites by Hannah Kent
Why? The novel is set in the early 1800s and the author Hannah Kent portrays the life of Agnes Magnúsdóttir, an Icelander on death row for the murder of her lover. After being prosecuted she is sent to stay with a district officer, Jón Jónsson and his family where she is to remain until her execution. Though the book is a work of fiction it focuses heavily on real characters and places, which have been meticulously examined. A great read, full of hope and drama!

This Month’s Movie to Watch is…
The Dallas Buyers Club
Why? Nowhere will you see surfer boy, Matthew McConaughey play such a dramatic, intense role. Nor will you find rocker boy, Jarred Leto in such a daring role. This movie along with its main characters are set to win Oscars this year. Ron Woodroof, an electrician/rodeo cowboy with a heedless lifestyle is thrown off course with an H.I.V.-positive diagnosis. He is given 30 days to live and soon finds a lack of certified medications in the U.S. Ron decides to cross the border into Mexico where he learns about alternative treatments and begins smuggling them into America. Ron finds an unlikely ally in fellow AIDS patient Rayon, a transsexual who shares Ron’s passion for life and entrepreneurial gusto. Ron and Rayon create a “buyers club,” where H.I.V.-positive people pay monthly fee’s for access to the newly acquired medications.

This Weekend we’ll be…
At the Hermanus Country Market
Why? Sip on some wine or sip on some coffee, let the kids run free and listen to Piano Ben’s smooth tunes. The Hermanus Country Market has become an institution amongst the locals, each Saturday see’s them making the trek to enjoy the day with family and friends. Pick out some breads, cheeses, cakes or bakes. There is nothing we like more than 100% local and 100% handmade.
