ShowMe Hermanus Wine Club | Sauvignon Blanc
The Wild White!
This beautiful wine is probably one of the most popular wines in the world. The Hermanus Wine Route is littered with wineries all offering this crisp, cool climate wine. The wine route in Hermanus is synonymous with producing world recognised, award winning Sauvignon Blanc’s. Our climate in the Hemel En Aarde Valley is just right, the cool winds that blow in from the Atlantic Ocean keep the grapes nice and chilled, providing us with that Oh so good crispy wine.
This refreshing dry white wine that originates from France is grown world wide and likely to be one of the least fussiest vines to plant. There are many flavours and styles of Sauvignon Blanc, because of its versatility it can be enjoyed with an array of foods.
What flavours are found in a Sauvignon Blanc?
One can find fruity flavours like pineapple, apple and lime in a glass but Sauvignon Blanc can also have a “green” taste with flavours and aromas leaning more towards asparagus and some herbs.
Sauvignon Blanc is best served?
Chilled and on ice.
Food pairing
Due to the wines “herby” aroma’s the best accompaniment is definitely a summer salad packed with fresh herbs like parsley, basil, rosemary and coriander.
There is also nothing better than to pair a glass of Sauvignon Blanc with a seafood platter smothered in garlic butter sauce. We are in luck here in South Africa in that we have access to a variety of fresh fish daily!
