Homemade Beauty Products!
Delicious…
Ever wanted to try and make your own beauty products but unsure of how or where to start. We have gathered all our resources to provide you with a few recipes on how to make some delicious smelling lotions and potions.
The lovely thing about these recipes is that they can all be altered to what you like, may it be vanilla for a warm smell in winter or a burst of citrus to lift your spirits. You can mix to your heart’s desire and come up with something truly unique.
Vanilla Body Scrub
400g Demerara sugar
100g Granulated, brown sugar
1 Tablespoon vanilla extract
100ml Olive oil
Add the sugars into a bowl, along with the vanilla extract. Pour the oil in slowly whilst mixing until you reach the consistency you would like. Test the scrub on the back of your hand to make sure you are happy with it.
Finally pop the scrub in a jar with a sealable lid and enjoy the next time you are in the shower.
Hint: Sugar can irritate some people with candida problems. Always test your products on a small patch of skin before spreading it all over your body. For an alternative, use Epsom salt instead of the sugar. Epsom salt is good for tension and muscle pain.
Coconut Body Butter
1 ½ Cups of coconut oil, measured as a solid
3 Tablespoons honey
2 Tablespoons zest of a grape fruit or other citrus.
Mix up all the ingredients with a beater until smooth, pop it into a sealable container and you have luxury body butter without breaking the bank.
Hint: You can always substitute the zest with essential oil to your preference for smoother body butter. Honey is a natural barrier against moisture, when you use this body butter it will lock in all the moisture making your skin feel supple and smooth all over.
Home Made Bath Salts
1 Cup Epsom salt
1 Cup sea salt
Essential oil of your choice
Food dye in the colour of your choice
Combine the Epsom salt along with the sea salt in a large mixing bowl. Add 3 to 6 drops of food colouring. A little goes a long way so start off by only using a drop until you get the colour you would like. Mix well. Lastly add 5 to 10 drops of essential oil and mix. Spoon your salts into beautiful jar to enjoy.
Hint: Use any essential oil that you prefer. Lavender is popular for its soothing and relaxing properties.
All these recipes are simple and smell great. The products are all readily available at local shopping centres here in town. They are perfect as a gift and to use as your own. Everybody can use a little bit of pampering in their lives and this is a wonderful way in which to do it!
