With its unparalleled scenic beauty, modern infrastructure, upmarket shops, and endless adventure options, it’s little wonder that Hermanus has grown in size and popularity during the last decade.

Due to this influx, the Hermanus Golf Club has always experienced heavy traffic at certain times of the year. Despite this, the club, blessed with a dedicated and professional management team has over many years deservedly gained a reputation for excellent year round standards.

The Course

In 2006, this classic country course underwent a major overhaul with the introduction of nine new holes all with modern classically designed holes, that have added much to both the visual and challenging aspects of the course, without losing any sense of its former tradition.

This tradition, created by original designer Bob Grimsdell, was based around the gentle mountain surrounds, sea views, and country hospitality. Though those ingredients remain, this golfing venue has truly reached a new level. This is not surprising, as South Africa’s foremost golf course architect, Peter Matkovich, was retained to infuse his special brand of flair and experience to maximise the potential on this scenic and gentle landscape.

Superb new greens and bunkering have been introduced to the course that has been considerably lengthened.

The changes have achieved a great boost to the challenge of this golf course. The improvements have created an opportunity for a real challenge if the course is played from the back tees, while the introduction of different tees (championship, members, seniors and ladies) will allow all levels of golfers to participate in competitions.

Membership

Hermanus Golf Club welcomes new members. Members of the Hermanus Golf Club will have access to the beautiful 27-hole golf course, currently ranked as the 4th most popular course in South Africa (Golf Digest August 2011).

André and Anli van Vuuren of Season Restaurant fame look after the catering needs of our members and visitors and bookings for the Sunday Lunches are highly recommended!

Our Clubhouse consists of a large bar area, lounge, dining room, halfway house as well as modern and up to date locker rooms with shower facilities.

Our resident Pro; Julian Shaw, and his assistants are more than willing to assist you with your game should you require. We have a fully stocked and well priced pro-shop as well as a driving range and practice facilities.

Pro Shop

Julian Shaw, is our head professional and has been a PGA member for 20 years. He’s a SA Top-10 teacher, who’s ethos of teaching is based on solid fundamentals and a 2 plane swing. The latest computer assistance is employed and the academy is the only PGA-club professional academy in South-Africa to earn the endorsement of the Taylormade, Adidas and Maxfli Brand. Julian and his team of PGA professionals are waiting to tailor your game. The shop is open from 7 AM to 6 PM.
