Getting Swimsuit Ready For The Summer
Hitting The Beach In Style!
They weather is getting warmer each day and like me I am sure you are feeling a little bit hesitant to shake off the winter clothes and slip into something a bit more beach appropriate. Eventually you will have to drop the towel that is tightly wrapped around your waist when heading to find a spot on any one of the beautiful beaches here in Hermanus and the Overberg!
There are many ways in which to feel confident in a swimsuit regardless if you are toned or not. Here are a few ways in which to help you along to feeling beautiful!
Step 1: Exfoliate
We’ve been told how effective exfoliating our skin now and then is but it is one of the first ways to get you feeling great. It gets rid of dead skin creating a smoother surface. Also if you brush and massage upwards towards your heart you are stimulating circulation. This is great for unclogging blockages in cellulite prone areas like legs, thighs and bottom! A dry brush is good for all over and a brush with larger heads is wonderful for the hind legs and thighs.
Step 2: Control your carb intake and forget about junk food
So if you are not able to hit the gym to burn the carbs off it is best to cut down on them and limit visits to Woolworths for a pie. Eating 6 small meals a day will slowly begin to improve your body. Personal trainers and dieticians all recommend that that you fill up on low glycemic index foods such as raspberries and spinach, fish and egg whites…also no eating carbs after 5pm!
Step 3: Hang your costume where you will constantly see it.
This will get you sticking to your diet and exercise plan more!
Step 4: Start Moving
If you are not a lover of gym that is fine, all you need to start doing is mild exercise here and there. Go for a walk on the beach or in the mountains along any one of the amazing hiking routes in the Overberg. The weather is perfect this time of year for you to enjoy the outdoors in an active way!
Step 5: Get rid of unwanted hair
Shave, wax, do anything to clear up your legs, bikini line and underarms. Skin will be noticeably smoother!
Step 6: Always wear sunscreen
Make sure you purchase the right sunscreen with a UVA/UVA and sun-factor of 30, apply every two hours.
Step 7: Buy the right fit
When buying a swimsuit for summer do no rush. Be prepared to try lots on to find the best one for your shape, size and skin colour. Even the skinniest person can have a muffin top if the bikini bottoms do not fit correctly!
Step 8: Invest in a good body bronzer or self tanner
Tanning in the sun is no advised but where else can you get an even tan. Try a beauty salon that offers spray tanning or buy a quality bronzer or self tanner. Apply every 3 to 4 days for an even richer tan. Remember to exfoliate and shave before applying!
Step 9: Hide the flaws and accessorize
We all have flaws and insecurities the best way is to disguise them. If you are concious about your legs buy a pretty sarong or board shorts. If are you concerned about your tummy hide it with a light kaftan for when you are sitting on the beach. Pair any of these with a sun hat and super shades and you are set!
