Did you know that colds account for up to 3 years of an average persons life. That is a lot of time wasted sneezing, coughing and feeling downright irritable. While colds are the most common illness they do not occur because one has wet hair, stress, changes in temperature, cold feet or terrible weather.
However when the temperature drops so does our immune systems making us more susceptible to those lurking colds and flu.
Follow these tips and get the most out of life this winter!
- Wash your hands regularly, a nifty waterless hand sanitizer for the car is a good idea to invest in.
- Remember to wash your hands for more than 20 seconds to get rid of all the germs on your hands and opt to use a paper towel instead of a hand towel.
- Keep your hands away from your nose and mouth.
- Eat with a knife and fork so that germs from your hands don’t come into contact with your mouth.
- Always get rid of used tissues the minute you are done with them.
- Exercise, by spending as little as 30 minutes a day, working out or going for a stroll, you are building your immune system.
- It’s a well known fact that a positive attitude can build your immune system too!
- Get anything between 8 to 10 hours of sleep a night.
- Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables.
- Steer clear of anybody who is showing signs of having a cold or the flu.
