Linda Fourie has been in Hermanus for two years running and is the owner and creative genius behind Linda Fourie Photography. There is no better way to explain this week’s personality other than in her own words, bubbly, loves to bake, needs to learn how to cook, believes in doggy heaven and overall just happy go lucky.
See what this weeks, refreshing and new personality of the week had to say to us…
When did you come to Hermanus?
My hubby and I arrived in Hermanus on the 1st of March, 2012.
Why did you decide on coming to Hermanus?
My parents had a holiday home here. We just returned from the States, where we lived for two years. We were waiting for my hubby to start work at a company in Cape Town on the 1st of May. My husband on a visit to Hermanus was walking through town, saw a company, walked in to give them his CV and he got a job immediately, so in the end we stayed in Hermanus!
What made you decide to become a photographer?
When I was five I remember saying that I wanted to become a photographer when I am grow up. I am now grown up! ;)
What do you love about photography?
The people combined with the creativity. It is a very positive job, my clients mostly book me to celebrate a new love, baby or family!
How would you describe your style of photography?
Relaxed and playful, filled with true emotions. I love to capture natural, in the moment shots!
My favourite shoots are those that are…
Natural, just because it is the closest to reality and will stay in fashion for a long time.
What are your 3 favourite things to photograph and why?
I love photographing eyes, they tell a story without speaking, hands intertwined, showing intimacy and fun shots like jumping and dipping.
The best part of my job is…
To see a bride’s face when she see’s herself for the first time in the wedding dress. Also, the groom’s face when he see’s his bride for the first time.
What I like about photographs is that they capture a moment that’s gone forever, impossible to reproduce. ― Karl Lagerfeld
What is the most important advice that you could give to a couple regarding their engagement, wedding or maternity shoots?
Engagement shoot: Have fun and enjoy each other. Ask your photographer to practice key shots e.g: kissing shots, walking shots and close up shots.
Wedding shots: Enjoy your spouse and savour the moment. Plan enough time with your photographer as it is a perfect time for you to recap on the special moments during the ceremony that you would like for them to capture.
Maternity shots: The best time to photograph you is when you are 32 weeks pregnant. Wear tight clothes to show of the bump and remember to relax! :)
Hermanus is…
Beautiful!
I love Hermanus in the…
Spring, I love the whales and I love the warm sunlight beating away the cold.
What areas in Hermanus are the most beautiful to you and why?
I love Long beach and the cliff path, you can see the whales in season and smell the ocean.
I wish I knew then what I do know now about…
Living a healthy life. You have only one life to live, the best is to look after yourself now, by exercising and eating a balanced diet.
My best memories are…
When I did my shoot at my wedding, when we travelled to America and all my other travel memories.
