Everlasting Beauty | Leanne Steinmann
See what this local lady had to say to us…
Leanne Steinmann is a specialist in permanent makeup, here in Hermanus. A soft touch and a keen eye for all things beautiful is what sets her aside from the rest. The art of having permanent makeup applied is a growing trend that shows no signs of slowing down. If you are looking to be transformed, look no further than Leanne.
When did you come to Hermanus?
I was 13 when we moved here on account of my dad buying MeerenSee. I finished high school and went to Isa Carstens Health and Skin Care Academy, where I qualified as a beauty therapist. After working at various beauty salons and spa’s in various countries I settled in London for 9 years. My husband, myself and two boys have been back in Hermanus for 2 years now. I was lucky enough to start working with Lindi and the ‘Refine’ Team shortly after arriving here.
Why did you decide on coming back to Hermanus?
I always wanted to come back. I love the sun and the outdoor lifestyle. After I had my first child I wanted to be closer to my parents and give my son the same type of upbringing I had. Luckily my Irish husband also loves the outdoors and was more than happy to move here.
What made you decide to become a beauty therapist specializing in permanent makeup?
I love making people feel beautiful. I’m a very positive person and I always want other people to feel like that as well. You can only be happy if you’re happy with yourself. Permanent makeup is a way of doing that.
Hermanus is…
A place I’m very proud to say I’m from. People always envy me when I say it’s my home town. It has everything, the mountain, the sea, wine farms, nature reserves, lovely restaurants…I can carry on.
I love Hermanus in the…
Winter – because it’s nothing like the London winters. It’s like the London summers. It does get cold, and I don’t like that, but there’s always a few beautiful sunny days in between the cold ones.
If Hermanus was a shade of nail polish it would be…
A bright pinkish red – it’s the colour of Pinot Noir, my current favourite wine, and also my favourite nail varnish colour.
My favorite beauty trend is…
A look that is clean and natural, that enhances a person’s own beauty, but with a slight edge so it’s not too boring.
The beauty trend I dislike the most is…
Anything OTT (Over the top) or completely unnatural. A person should never look like they’ve tried too hard.
The best part of my job is…
When satisfied clients come back and tell me the treatment has changed their life and they wish they had done this years ago.
My three favourite beauty products are?
Only 3? Impossible, I have too many! If I have to generalise, I’ll say MAC for makeup, Neostrata or Sisley for skin care, Carita for sun care, Kerastase for hair, St Tropez for self tan…I have loads more.
Why would you recommend getting permanent makeup?
It is not for everybody, but if you have considered it, it will make your life much easier and you will feel beautiful in every moment. From the minute you wake up until you go to bed you will look perfect, without worrying about applying make up or smudging it.
What is the most important beauty advice that you could give to a woman?
Emphasize the features you like about yourself. If you can fix the things you don’t like about yourself, then do it.
I wish I knew then what I do know about…
Different aspects of life in general. I would have opened my mind more to other peoples ideas and outlook on things.
My best memories are…
Spending time with family and friends on various holidays – skiing, Ibiza, France, the Greek Islands, etc; meeting and getting to know my husband; my wedding day; raising my kids…My whole life really. I’ve been very fortunate to have had a fantastic life, meeting amazing friends and having the opportunity to experience lots of different things. I’ve had so much fun so far!
