Stony Point Penguin Colony | Betty’s Bay
Stony Point Penguin Colony is one of only two mainland colonies of African Penguin and is reached by the most beautiful coastal route called Clarence Drive. The mountains hug the coast line and photographic opportunities abound.
A fence has been erected around the penguin colony to keep local leopard and other predators at bay.
Bank Cormorant also breed here, alongside the more common Crowned, Cape and White-breasted Cormorants.
Directions: From Cape Town, take the N2 to Somerset West. Turn right onto the R44 and follow to Betty’s Bay. To reach Stony Point, take the sign posted right turn towards the coast, just before you enter Betty’s Bay.
