A DELIGHTFUL NEW RIVER WALK IN GORDON’S BAY
A delightful new River Walk has been added to the list of attractions in Gordon’s Bay. The inaugural walk took place on Thursday the 21st of November.
However, the idea, brainchild of GBBF chairman Danie Miller, was first discussed way back in January of this year when he introduced the concept of neatly mown verges, markers, trees and benches along the waterway. The benches will arrive in due course and hopefully too, a cement path for bicycles and push chairs.
The walk meanders along the watercourse from Lancaster Road behind the Bay Centre (Spar) crossing Dennehof and Admirals Way and ending at Dolphin Way. It’s an easy, pretty walk with a route board posted at every main intersection.
Strolling at a very leisurely pace from Bay Centre to Dolphin Way and back, while stopping to take photographs and chat to a couple of people along the way, we completed the walk within the hour. A brisk walk would probably be achieved in half the time.
Congratulations to Danie Miller and all involved in getting yet another project off the ground that both beautifies our town and provides open-air recreation for residents and visitors.
