WeeWeeChuu does it again – Easter Hunt
On Easter Monday, a group of 30 children from Bright Lights and Sir Lowry’s Pass Village were treated to an Easter egg hunt by an organisation called Weeweechuu
“A collaboration of friends and like-mined people to build a legacy that lasts and create magical memories for kids who would otherwise never experience them”
The children arrived under grey skies that threatened rain, but thankfully, apart from a few drops, remained dry for the next three hours. During this time they played on the playground equipment at the Round Table clubhouse, and gave the old Noddy car there a serious workout. WeeWeeChuu were donated a few soccer balls and some bats which kept the kiddies entertained for the most of the time. Nino took on the challenge from the kids to stop as many soccer balls as possible which became a challenge at one stage when he lined 10 soccer balls up and told the kids to shoot all at once. Some of the younger kiddies enjoyed the good old “blowing bubbles”.
A Boerie roll, chicken wings, fruit and juice was served for lunch. During lunch the Easter Bunny was very busy and took the opportunity to hide Easter Eggs for the kids. The excitement in their voices when they heard they had to go and look for Easter eggs was enough to bring tears to all that had made the day possible. The groups were split so the smaller children had the opportunity to search first and then it was the older children’s turn. It took a bit of help from the helpers to show the smaller children in which direction to search but less than 10 minutes for the older kids to find their share. The teachers received their share too. It did not take long for most of the Easter Eggs to be consumed on the spot and the children helped to clean up all the papers.
Sadly it was time to for the children to depart to their various destinations. As the children said their “good-byes” they each received a “party pack” and a cup cake to take home with them. According to Colleen Pienaar, who organised the kids from Sir Lowry’s Pass, it was difficult to select which 15 kids to get into the taxi to go down. However, upon their return they started sharing their “party packs” with the others who did not go.
The feedback we received from Colleen Pienaar; “Not one child was stingy and everything they came home with was handed to others. They were not told to do so and even this morning they were still raving about the fun they had”
WeeWeechuu was supported in this effort by the DA Ward 84 Committee chairperson, Bobby Bennett, and the Ward councillor Stuart Pringle “The DA is more than happy to support initiatives as this, as we are busy becoming “The caring City” And this is what caring is all about – doing those things that put a smile on someone’s face. You never know how the small thing that you do for someone can have a massive impact on them, their family and their future. “
A huge thank you must go to all the helpers there on the day. Their efforts made everything run smoothly, and made the day more memorable.
A special thank you goes to all that made the day possible:
