Slight Relief At The Pumps: Petrol Price Set to Dive
A slight break for motorists as the Automobile Association predicts an infinitesimal drop in the price of petrol next month!
South Africa (28 May 2021) – Petrol users are set for some month-end relief at the pumps.
The Automobile Association (AA) is predicting that petrol will be 11 cents a litre cheaper in June.
This is because the Rand continued its pleasing strengthening trend against the greenback.
“The Rand continued to strengthen against the US dollar throughout May,” the AA said in a statement.
Those with diesel vehicles are not so lucky as it’s set to increase by about 22 cents a litre.
In April this year, petrol reached a record high of R17.32 per litre 95 unleaded non-coastal, surpassing the precursory record of R17.08 set in late 2018, while motorists were also hit with a 65c increase to the all-inclusive price of diesel.
Fuel prices are adjusted on the first Wednesday of every month.
The AA’s spokesman Layton Beared said it hoped there would be more price relief to fuel prices for users over the coming months.
