Africa Skate School hosts first Go Skate Contest of 2015
This past Saturday, February 28th, Africa Skate hosted its first Go Skate Contest of 2015 at the Inspired 2 Become Skate Park in Somerset West.
Participants ranged from primary to high school children with various degrees of skateboarding skill.
The purpose of the event is to conclude the Go Skate School’s monthly curriculum and showcase the developing talent of local skateboarders.
Although the Go Skate Contest is related to the Skate School we encourage children of all ages to attend the monthly Contest, even if it’s to be a spectator, this is an environment that thrives on community, positivity and youth empowerment.
2 best trick jam sessions for 15 minutes each, one in the bowl and another in the park only.
Best trick in the bowl: Bradley with a 360 flip bs rock ‘n roll combo (winning an epitome hoodie)
Best trick in the park: Shane with a heelflip fakie on the 5 foot quarter (winning epitome wheels)
A ‘Lucky Draw’ was also held and all participants walked away with winnings.
Huge congrats to The Skate School’s Most Improved Skater, Finlay Poole for taking home the floating trophy for February!
We would like to extend a big thanks to our sponsors: epitome skateboards, Derive Skate Shop in Somerset West, Session Magazine, Mountain Dew, Art that Rox and the Inspired 2 Become Skate Park for contributing to this success of this event and look forward to the next Go Skate Contest happening on the 28th of March.
