Local Sail Training Co receives international accreditation
Alison Rese of Super Crew had reason to celebrate this week. Super Crew is a small boutique sail training facility in Gordon’s Bay, specializing in providing exceptionally hands on training for interior crew on luxury yachts.
In December, Super Crew was audited by the Professional Yachting Association from France and this month, was welcomed on board as an internationally accredited member.
The Professional Yachting Association created an internationally recognized training and certification career route for interior yacht crew. The program is called PYA GUEST (Guidelines for Unified Excellence Service Training). Super Crew’s courses follow the guidelines of four PYA GUEST course components. These are PYA Yacht Interior Introduction Course, PYA Yacht Interior Basic Food Service Course, PYA Wine and Cocktail Introduction Course and The Barista Course.
Super Crew is all about it’s students and provides a lot more than most other training facilities during the six day training period. To get a taste of the luxury environment in which they’ll be working, students are housed in a four star guest house for the duration of the course. Breakfast and lunch are also included. All Super Crew courses are completely hands on. Classroom work takes place in the morning and in the afternoon, its working on the boat, ironing or practising napkin folding, knots or docking. It is Super Crew’s mission statement that at the end of the course, students who pass, will emerge as confident, competent, work ready crew members.
With twenty seven years experience on luxury yachts almost everywhere in the world, Alison could well be one of the most valuable instructors the PYA has on it’s books. For more information, please call 079 591 5314.
