#Pickoftheweek: King Kong is Back for One Last Run (12 December – 9 February)
The legendary tale of South African boxer King Kong returns to the Fugard Theatre for one last run from Tuesday, 12 December 2017 until Friday, 9 February 2018. Todd Matshikiza and Pat Williams’ musical first graced the stage 61 years ago and has been a theatrical hit ever since. The story will tug at your heartstrings and comes with tragic events and good ones too. The production features a stellar cast who have worked and starred in a number of popular productions across the globe.

2. Enjoy a Garden Party with Tea in the Tree (16 December)
The Mother City is known for hosting epic festivals, psychedelic trance events and banging electro parties. On Saturday, 16 December 2017, head to Ridgemor Villa Guest House in Somerset West for the garden party at Tea in the Tree. The sister event to the Into the Wild Festival, Tea in the Tree is a day of acoustics, disco, house, techno and more! But that’s not all, cool down in the pool and then head back to the dance floor to stomp it out.

3. Gugulethu Reconciliation Day Race (16 December)
What better way to commemorate a day meant for mending and restoring relations between people than at the Gugulethu Reconciliation Day Race on Saturday, 16 December 2017. Dubbed the “Run for Unity” race, it was started 17 years ago in memory of anti-apartheid activist Amy Biehl who was murdered in Gugulethu. Enjoy either the 10km or the 4.2km course, depending on whether it’s a quick run or relaxing stroll you’re after.

4. Ready, Steady, Darling Summer Beer Festival (16 December)
A beer festival during summer? Yes, please! Making its return on Saturday, 16 December 2017, the Darling Summer Beer Festival is back to bring you all the delicious beverages you have come to love. What makes this year different is the live music and stand-up comedy on the line-up. Expect to laugh out loud with Schalk Bezuidenhout, Gino Fernandez and Charles Tertiens. But let’s not forget about the beer, besides the fantastic Darling Brew which will be on sale, Riot Brewery, Garagista Beer Co, D’Cider, Mountain Brewery Co and Everson’s Cider will be representing too.

5. Corona SunSets Return for the Ultimate Beach Party (16 December)
Taking place in nine countries across the globe, including South Africa, Corona SunSets makes its return on Saturday, 16 December 2017. Oval and The Bungalow in Clifton will erupt with one epic beach party that’s going to knock your socks off. International acts Jonas Blue and Klingande will bring you those rocking beats you’ve grown to love, as well as local acts Mi Casa, TIMO ODV, Da Capo and more.

Saturday, 16 December 2017 at the Castle of Good Hope, you are invited to an epic MCQP Dungeons and Dragons party. 7. End Off Your Week at the Newlands Spring Christmas Market (17 December)
Food, food and more food… but wait that’s not all, as the Newlands Spring Christmas Market at the Oval on Sunday, 17 December 2017 brings you a variety of local products, a great vibe and more. The Good Vibes Project brings this second installment of this popular market, this time with 50% more vendors! Some of the vendors you can expect are Tessa’s Bakery, Tacos Locos, Granadilla Swim and more. What’s more, you can bring your pooch along to enjoy the doggy playpark.
