The Bush Babies Monkey Sanctuary
The Bush Babies Monkey Sanctuary offers guided tours through an indigenous forest environment where you can see a variety of free-roaming primates.
The circular tour on raised wooden walk-ways brings you close to the branches and canopies where the monkeys and other primates go about their daily life.
Species that can be seen include Spider Monkeys, Squirrel Monkeys, Capuchin Monkeys, Madagascan Lemurs and the tiny bug-eyed Bushbabies, that redefine the word ‘cute’. Most of these animals have been rescued from unhappy or unsuitable captive environments and from the pet trade, although some have also been born at the sanctuary. Meerkats, many species of birds and the occasional deer can also be seen in the sanctuary’.
The natural forested ‘kloof’ (gorge) is a beautiful and peaceful example of the indigenous flora, and this could be a major attraction on its own.
The tours are conducted on the hour from 9am until 4pm 7 days a week.
Getting there: At the Damdoryn 4 Way stop turn on the R 104 in the direction of Rustenburg. The Monkey Sanctuary is on the left about 3km from Damdoryn.
