Hartbeespoort Environment and Heritage Association
Hartbeespoort Environment and Heritage Association, HEHA, has over the years done sterling work in making a survey of the heritage sites in the Hartbeespoort and adjacent areas, and have collected a wealth of information on more than a hundred selected sites. These include sites of geological, archaeological, historical and artistic interest.
The information has been compiled, and is available, at cost, on CD’s for study and educational purposes. They have asked users of the information and the general public for comment and to pass on any additional information, to enable them to constantly upgrade their records. Eventually they hope to create a publication for research, educational and tourism purposes. The accent is on cultural, natural history and heritage sites and their starting point is the object or site as seen today, and they then delve into the past for background information.
The Association is supported financially in its work by the Madibeng Local Council.
Their CD’s throw a whole new light on the area, and we often pass sites of historical or cultural interest without knowing that they are there.
