Cupcakes of Hope for Childhood Cancer
Let’s make September the 28th the SWEETEST DAY of the year.
Forming part of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month is Cupcakes of Hope, a Non Profit Company, with one of their main aims being to create awareness and funds for children with cancer. They do this through their love of Cupcakes!
In 2011 “Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer” set a New World Record for the most cupcakes on a Display (21 000) and raised R200,000 for kids with cancer. Last year they hosted South Africa’s first National Cupcake Day 4 Kids with Cancer on the 29th of September and raised R507,000 in one day, having 20 venues throughout the country participating.
Funds raised to date have been donated to 11 different charities. These include Reach for a dream, Cansa, CHOC and The Sunflower Fund. Money has also been donated towards medical equipment at two oncology wards in Johannesburg and Polokwane, and help has been given to over 70 children this past 6 months in the form of either payment for medical treatment, travelling costs, school fees and clothing, day to day living costs as well as the delivery of over 70 “Bags of LOVE” to the hospital patients.
National Cupcakes for Cancer Day and Party of Hope 2013
This year National Cupcakes for Cancer Day will be held on 28 September with 40 venues already confirmed. The cupcakes, muffin sized, will be baked and donated by various Cake Decorators in each area, these include Chocolate, Red Velvet and Vanilla, all beautifully decorated with The Gold Cancer Ribbon, Flowers, Animals, Bugs and various Disney and other animated characters.
Mugg and Bear will also be running a national campaign and a percentage of the profits will be donated to Kids with Cancer. Last year’s donation from Mugg and Bean was R240,000.
The cupcakes are handed out FREE during the Party of Hope at each venue. The public are however are asked to donate R10 for the cupcake.
During the Party of Hope awareness will be created for Childhood Cancer through the distribution of “Early Childhood Cancer Warning Sign” leaflets (last year over 60 000 leaflets were distributed).

A stunning cupcake will ALWAYS bring a smile to your face. Last year some people took nearly 10 minutes to choose a cupcake, because there were so many stunning cupcakes to choose from. The idea is that the public are amazed by all the cupcakes AND the cause. This then Hopefully leading to tons of new volunteers for the next event.
This is an entirely community driven project and an amazing event that brings the whole community together for an amazing cause.
We can ALL make a difference
