How to relax in a busy modern world
How to relax in a busy modern world
Take control of your life and put yourself first. If you are ok everyone else will be ok.
Here are a few points to assist with relaxation that are already part of our daily routine and can be enhanced with a bit of creativity:
Diet
If your body is healthy you tend to cope better with stress. By drinking water you hydrate your brain this in return can combat depression. Scientists confirmed that staying hydrated aid in combating anxiety and depression. Water cleans the body of toxins and carries oxygen to the brain.
Sugars and wheat can irritate the whole system. The correct diet can assist in making you feel calm and centred. Everything in moderation of course. By giving up all your special treats will also make you feel stressed. Remember by living by a healthy diet with exercise, you are not taking away from your life but you are contributing to the quality of your life.
Family Time
Have dinner with the family at the table and not in front of the television. This gives families time to bond and de-stress. Families have the opportunity to discuss daily matters. By making time to sit at the table it also shows gratitude to the blessings on the plate.
Make this a family affair of setting the table, cooking together, laughing. Make dinner time around the same time every day. This will signal to the family that it is time to get home for dinner with the family.
Planning & Routine
By planning your life ahead as a mindful being avoids those last minute rush jobs that will get your stress levels going.
Get into a healthy routine and plan time for yourself. Keep a diary and just as important as work slot in “my time”, “yoga practice time” entries and stick to your routine. People who stick to a routine are more relaxed.
Make Time
Make time for long walks in the forest or on the beach. Do morning yoga and meditation. Take time for yourself. This will rejuvenate mind, body and spirit. Watch a movie by yourself, indulge in a book or stay in your pyjamas the whole day.
Laugh more
Don’t be so hard on yourself. By taking yourself less serious and make fun at your mistakes. Get in to the zone of laughing and having fun. People will love to be around you and tend to support you more. No one wants to be around a misarable individual. They are hard work and takes energy instead of giving energy. Learn to do things out of your comfort zone. This is the only time when you will learn about yourself. You never know stepping out of your comfort zone can change your life in a positive direction.
Cry if you have to
If someone did not treat you right. In a very calm manner tell them you did not appreciate the way they treated you or spoke to you. Often the reaction will be “Sorry, did not mean to, had a bad day.”
Crying is good for the soul. Watch a sad movie and cry your heart out. You will feel so relieved after a good cry. If your issue persists talk to someone you really trust.
Creativity
Find a craft that you enjoy mosaic, fabric paint, paper maché, the list is endless.
Getting your hands dirty with glue and paint has a calming effect and seeing the end result is immediate gratification. By working on an art project is a type of meditation, losing yourself in the moment, being absorbed by the good energy of being creative.
Social
Get a group of friends with sober habits with more or less the same interest as you. You can bounce ideas and inspire each other towards mindfulness.
De-clutter and organise
By de-cluttering and organising your home and office, this saves you time and money. You will stress less in a clean environment as a dirty environment works on your psyche. You will spend less time looking for items you can’t find.
Nature
Connect to the grounding and healing powers of nature. People taking long walks barefoot in nature and sitting under a big tree are far less stressed. I believe the cause for a lot of stress in the world is due to the fact that we are not grounded living in Skyscrapers away from the natural world.
Emotions
Cultivate positive emotions of self-love, acceptance, love, gratitude, calmness. Negative emotion such as jealousy, greed and fear create stress.
Lavender Salt Bath
After a long stressful day take a warm lavender bath. While the bath is filling drop lavender essential oil in the water along with a cup of Bi-Carbonate of Soda, Epson Salt and Coarse Sea Salt. Light a candle.
Soak in the water and imagine how any stress gets soaked up by these healing elements. Make sure that you cover your heart chakra for a few seconds as well. While you are relaxing, be aware of messages or insights that you may experience. These are loving messages from the Divine to guide you.
If you can live a relaxed, destressed life everything will fall in place. It makes sense that if your attitude is relaxed, people will react to you in a relaxed manner.
In a moment of an extremely stressful situation by flying off the rails is not going to remedy the situation. It will only make matters worst.
In the world today everything is rushed with fast food, television and deadlines.
We often look at pharmaceuticals for uppers and downers as we feel there is no time to go it more natural. As a modern human race, we need instant fixes to quickly get back in the game making sure that our competitors do not get a head start.
The vibration of the earth is changing and it is affecting all of us. We are evolving and asking more questions about life than ever before.
People are feeling the benefits of going back to our roots, grounding and centring, and looking at alternatives to the upper and downers we can buy and obtain over the counters.
There are techniques to relax and de-stress that have no side effects and is lasting.
Strive for Mindfulness meaning maintaining a “live in the moment” awareness. Be fully aware of our thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and surrounding environment at all times without judgment.
Being in touch with yourself and listen to inner guidance. There is no right or wrong. We are here to experience spirituality through our bodies in our bodily vessels to carry our souls around on this earthly plane.
