GREEN LOLLIPOP AWARENESS CAMPAIGN CONCRETE ACTION IN SUPPORT OF SPECIAL NEEDS COMMUNITY
GEORGE (November 2017) – The message ‘Special needs children are different, not less’ will be prominent and literally on everyone’s lips as the GREEN LOLLIPOP awareness campaign started again recently. This campaign coincides with National Disability Rights Awareness Month which is from 3 November to 3 December. 3 December is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, and is also celebrated as National Disability Rights Awareness Day.
Members of the public will also be able to show their support by purchasing GREEN lollipops at Kloppers George and Legacy Centre. It is the second year that Kloppers George is supporting this initiative and this stalwart in the Garden Route Business sector is really throwing its weight behind the special needs community of George. Funds raised during this campaign will again be utilised to empower the special needs community of George by means of information and training. The organisers of the campaign from the Non-Profit Organisation Binah and the tutoring centre for special needs children, Legacy Centre, are extremely excited about the positive response and support they receive from the Garden Route community.
Disability is the consequence of an impairment that may be physical, cognitive, mental, sensory, emotional, developmental, or some combination of these. The GREEN LOLLIPOP drive offers an opportunity for all of us to remove these barriers and to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities through concrete action.
