Woodifields Music on the Map Experience
The Woodifields Music on the Map Experience, ushering in spring in the Garden Route, is taking place on 2 September 2017. Apart from being a ‘best of local band music’ showcase, it will most definitely also celebrate local lekker tastes – from quiche to curry, craft beer to hamburgers, milkshakes to merlot and ‘sarmies’ to sandwiches, there is sure to be something mouth-watering for every taste.
The entire Woodifields Music on the Map Experience was conceptualised around farm life; taking people out of the bustle (yes, even in George) and rooting them in the country-vibing lifestyle on the Woodifields Estate. Over the past few months, old workers’ houses have been given a facelift to be able to house the food and drink stalls tasked to be stilling and quenching one and all at the music experience.
Originally earmarked for a total revamp, organisers soon realised that people needed to experience the rustic beauty of these old farm dwellings. So the overhauls were stopped and the houses were merely renovated to keep their storied heritage alive, ready for the explosion of tastes and flavours on their way for the music experience.
Hetta’s Home Foods has become synonymous over the years with good, tasty and healthy food, and festival goers are in for a treat when they visit Hetta’s house. Curry on Kaya is another Woodifields taste experience guaranteed to wet your appetite. Just the thought of those gorgeous spice combinations is enough to get your mouth watering in anticipation. Although “Biltong & Braai” may be relatively new on the local scene, their experience in making proudly South African grub is undeniable. Besides, who can deny those hunger pangs the moment you get a whiff of a hotdog or a great hamburger?
Known in local circles for their decadent milkshake creations as well as their tasty treats, The Marshmallow Cafe will undoubtedly be a crowd favourite, whether you are a toddler or a tannie. Goodness just keeps getting better at the music experience with The Beer Merchant and Blind Pig offering music lovers only the good stuff in craft beer and wine.
Someone delectably caffeinated once said that coffee solves everything. To me, that is stating the obvious, but not all coffees were created equal, and in the Southern Cape, there is no excuse for drinking “ok” coffee. The Coffee Cafe at the festival will caffeinate your every wish with great local coffee.
Prepping and priming is on schedule and the flavours will start filling the air before doors open at 14h00 on 2 September 2017. Bring your family, bring your friends, even bring a chair or a blanket, but come and share a spectacular Garden Route spring day filled with good grub, great beer and amazing music, proving local is not only lekker, but positively cooking!
You will find the entrance to Woodifields Music on the Map, opposite the Main entrance to the Nelson Mandela University.
