NMMU Green Campus Day, Huge Success
The Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University started of with Green Campus Week on 19 September 2011 with roaring success. The aim of this campaign was to make students and the public more aware of Eco Friendly Living.
The highlight of the week was Green Campus Day held on Friday, 23 September 2011. The NMMU Campus was buzzing with activity from early morning with students rushing about to get their stalls up and running before the members of the public arrived.
Soon the campus was roaring with laughter and fun as various activities started taking place. Fun activities like balloon throw, a goo-pit, paintball, can throw and eco friendly 4×4-ing was hosted by students during the course of the day with the arrival of Eden FM as being the highlight of the day. Eden FM broadcasting live from campus and had various interviews with staff and students.
The Green Lodgers had a “Save the Rhino” pledge where all students and visitors could put their signature on a canvass which will be sent to the “Save the Rhino” Campaign.
Honda Auto George also joined in the fun by exhibiting their newly launched Honda Jazz Hybrid and this little car fitted in perfectly with its bright green color.
