Formidable people at the heart of the Gourmets & Gourmands
At the heart of the annual Gourmets and Gourmands championed by Hartmans are very special people whose commitment to this commendable cause is awe-inspiring to say the least.
With the support of people who have hearts like lions the 8th annual Gourmets and Gourmands championed by Hartmans will be the stuff that African Dreams are made of. On 20 August 2016 some 200 guests will step into an African Dream and experience Africa and all its splendour…
The genius-artist Mel Botes will take centre stage at this year’s Gourmets and Gourmands championed by Hartmans. The well-known contemporary singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist will be accompanied by musicians from Knysna.
Guests will be spirited away by the enthralling African music and the full-toned voice of Mel Botes. It may seem like an evening of entertainment and gastronomy, but this African Dream will be created to raise funds to develop the computer centre of the special needs learners of Carpe Diem School.
Great hearts who have been part of the Gourmets & Gourmands journey from the beginning are at the core of this fund raising event. Pomodoros will be taking part in the Gourmets & Gourmands for the 8th consecutive year. The late Braam de Swardt who was so passionate about the event made sure that Pomodoros gave it their all. He will be sorely missed at this year’s event.
The Gannet will also be taking part for the 8th consecutive year. Susan Pretorius, of the Carpe Diem School Parent Committee, initiated the Gourmets & Gourmands event eight years ago and has been the driving force behind each year’s successful fundraiser. The sponsors of the event ensure that Gourmets & Gourmands can be hosted with great success every year.
Hartman & Son Butcher will be the premier sponsor of the Carpe Diem School Gourmets & Gourmands for the fifth consecutive year. Michael Pashut of Commercial Auto & Bus, Fancy Functions, Xerox who does all of the printing and of course Raffaele D’Amato Jewellers contribute greatly to the event.
The cuisine at this year’s event will be skilfully prepared by the following restaurants: Chaine Des Rottiseurs Outeniqua; Die Rooi Kombuis all the way from Barydale; Fancourt; Fat Fish; Francois Ferreira Academy; Garden Route Game Lodge from Albertinia; Lauren’s; Meade 101; Peperboom Restaurant Greatbrak River; Salinas; Sucasa outside of Oudtshoorn; The Gannet in Mossel Bay; Pop-up Restaurant Thousand Sensations; and from the Wilderness The Views Boutique Hotel & Spa The Wilderness Hotel, Salinas and Pomodoros.
Various vineyards are sponsoring wines to compliment the mouth-watering dishes and Ciro’s Lavazza coffee will be the best after-dinner treat.
