Prins Albert, Swartberg Pass and Calitzdorp
The long weekend of 16th June 2016, I took a trip to Prins Albert, The Swartberg Pass and Calitzdorp.
I have decided to take a brake for the weekend and set of to the Karoo. The road took me via Oudtshoorn and Meiringspoort to Prins Albert. What a beautiful little town, I have forgotten what it was all about.
Actually I did not want to do that much but ended up walking and driving in and around the town. The Old age home bazaar was on which I attended and had so many pancakes for breakfast. The night moon market was on with its own charm. I have met prominent people and quickly I had waves from passing vehicles.
The Swartberg pass is so stunning, the weather was excellent and the vistas amazing. Took my time to enjoy it and tried to stop as much as I could to take some pictures.
Driving to Calitzdorp via the Kruisrivier road was another highlight with its beautiful contrasting geological structures. So breathtaking awesome I want to go back and spend a weekend there.
The Queen of Calitzdorp was one of the best establishments I have ever visited, an excellent all rounder, beautiful rooms, friendly staff and great food.
It was the weekend of the Port festival in Calitzdorp and I thought one day would be enough for that, however in retrospect I should have had more time. It was certainly worth it, the entertainment, the port and wine and friendly people. Next year I will be there the whole weekend.
I have taken a few random pictures and also did some black and whites, well these will certainly remind me to go back and do it all over again. Enjoy.
