Buddha Bowl Workshop
Originally these bowls were known as grain bowls, then started transforming into what we now know as Buddha Bowls. Although this dish has nothing to do with Buddhism, it is said that the Buddha himself was happy with whatever food was put into his single ‘bowl’, held cupped between his hands during his hardships. That brings a new concept into the planning of a Buddha Bowl – balance all the necessary nutrients in a single dish and the meal will be satisfying to body, mind and soul.
The Buddha Bowl Workshop will assist you in understanding and balancing of the items in the bowl in order to reach this desired outcome – satisfying body, mind and soul. Each item will be made by participants during the course of the morning, then put together in the correct ratio, according to a structured guideline. The outcome is very beautiful, a truly fulfilling experience and deliciously tasty in its diversity. It will certainly become an easy go-to way of putting together a quick and easy meal in the future in a very different way every time!
All recipes and guidelines will be available as part of your workshop takeaway.
The COST of the workshop is included in the Full Package of R 495.

Guided Labyrinth Walk – 13:00
Labyrinths have been used for centuries as sacred spaces for prayer, meditation and contemplation. The oldest labyrinth, also known as the Classical Labyrinth (the same as the one here at Old Joe’s Kaia), was created 5000 years ago on the island of Crete. The most famous labyrinth is the Medieval Labyrinth, a complex design on the floor of the Chartres Cathedral in France, created in the thirteenth century.
Labyrinths have become popular after the 1960’s hippie era when people were searching for new ways of expression and finding peace and tranquility for spiritual practice and connection.
World Labyrinth Day was initiated in 2009 by The Labyrinth Society to create awareness of this very significant and beautiful tool to help humanity through difficult times and to maintain spiritual connection, thereby supporting and bringing forth world peace. It is an annual event on the first Saturday of May every year at 1pm (13:00) in your time zone. It is an attempt at getting people together to harness the power of the collective to be instrumental in change.
On 6 May 2023 Old Joe’s Kaia will join forces with the rest of the world and open its doors for people who would like to participate in this global collective effort towards a kinder world. We invite you to come and participate, to become a member of a larger society that aims to bring about change in the lives of all citizens of the world. By walking together as ONE at 1 (at our time zone 13:00) we will contribute to a period of 24 hours where there will be someone walking a labyrinth somewhere in the world, creating a continuous connection of striving for peace.
The COST of walking the labyrinth is included in all pricings.

LUNCH in The Olive Room – 14:00
The Olive Room is a sacred space on the Old Joe’s Kaia property. It is a beautiful open area under the trees with a fire pit for celebrating special occasions, such as this one.
The Seedling Kitchen and the morning’s workshoppers will present beautiful Buddha Bowls, filled with scrumptious food to nourish your body, mind and soul. We will revel in the silence of Nature while enjoying the fruits of the earth and our labour in mindful awareness.
The meal will be finished with dessert, tea & coffee back in the main building.
