Whale Watching in East London
Every year between July – December, the East London coastline is visited by Humpback whales and Southern Right Whales, migrating from their freezing feeding grounds off Antarctica to the warmer waters of the East Coast of South Africa.
The whales migrate to the warmer climes to mate. Peak calving season is in July and August and both visitors and locals in East London view these majestic creatures from a number of beaches in the East London area namely:
Bonza Bay Beach
Gonubie Beach
Nahoon Beach
Eastern Beach
If you are visiting East London between July – December remember to keep your binoculars and camera handy in case you are lucky enough to catch a glimpse of these amazing animals.
Visit the Whale watching & ocean viewing deck at the East London Aquarium for a birds eye view, or contact Southern Cross Cruises to book your Whale Watching cruise.
