Hopes for Eastern Cape to be in Top 3 most visited provinces
According to a recent report, the Eastern Cape Parks and Tourism Agency (ECPTA) has hopes for our beautiful province to become one of the top 3 most visited in the country within the next five years.
This plan, launched last weekend, comes after media members travelled around the Eastern Cape, as invited by the ECPTA, and saw for themselves our beautiful natural and heritage tourism attractions.
Speaking to Traveller24, Siyabulela Lazurus, Central Regional Tourism Development Manager for the Eastern Cape, said that the five year plan will include raising awareness within local communities of the potential to deliver world-class tourism products and services. This potential is hoped to be recognised by providing the necessary training and management skills to locals who will, in turn, be able to develop something sustainable within their communities.
The five year plan will also include the upgrading of various major roads in the area, something that is hoped will improve the experience of our visitors to the Eastern Cape.
As most of us are aware and incredibly proud of, our province boasts some of the most spectacular natural landmarks in South Africa. The Eastern Cape is rich with South African history and cultural heritage, something that can, without a doubt, only be experienced through visiting, staying a while and soaking up everything we have to offer.
