Areena Riverside Resort, Eastern Cape
Areena Riverside Resort is on the Wild Coast along the banks of the tidal Kwelera River, approximately 23km from East London. Ed and Karen Rathbone’s dream to have a unique family resort became a reality some 23 years ago and soon grew from strength to strength. After a lot of hard work and dedication, the Caravan Park was voted S.A. Top Resort 2004, after gaining public interest and became the hideout for those wanting to experience quality family time in the heart of nature.
This resort is ideally situated, close to pristine beaches, tidal rivers and the Areena Game Park with its abundant game and Leisure Village. Paint ball, quad biking, game drives and canoe trails are available here and it is close to a top class golf course, restaurants and shops.
Various types of accommodation include camping, caravan sites, luxury cottages or conference facilities. There are electrical and water points at each site, laundry and scullery facilities and ablutions with hot and cold water. There is also security, a swimming pool and a recreation room. Dogs are only permitted by prior arrangement.

Directions to Areena Resort: From Durban – Follow the N2 until T1 road for East Coast Resorts. Follow T1 until junction with Yellow Sands Road. From East London: Follow the N2 past Gonubie Mouth. Turn right into Shafu Road (part of T1) until it intersects with Yellow Sands Road.
