When Tannie Lilly and Bonita are done, they will have made 800 masks for children in need; they recently donated 200 to children without any protection.
Koringberg, South Africa (19 May 2020) – Natanya Israel shared a beautiful story about two women who have donated their time and skill to make sure that the children in their community have access to protective masks.
Many children don’t understand what is happening and have been forced to give up school where they were fed and cared for. The struggle to protect themselves from an invisible threat has been tough. We have seen images of children using plastic packets as masks and it is heartbreaking.
Hearing about Tannie Lilly and Tannie Bonita, our hearts leapt with pride. That women have been working non-stop to make protective fabric masks for children in their community. These children have had to go without.
The women recently distributed 200 masks, but their goal is to hand out 800. They are now working on sewing up the next 600 masks.
The women have been helped by their community which donated funds for supplies.
“A handful of good samaritans of the community of Koringberg have been donating funds to these two ladies to make masks for our village children, pensioners and residents. Here is Tannie Lilly and Bonita who have been stitching up a storm. Today 200 kids will get masks with a further 600 masks being rolled out in the next couple of weeks. Our gratitude to all those who donated and to these two ladies for their time and dedication.” – Natanya Israel
Tannie Lilly and Tannie Bonita are just two of many South Africans doing their part to protect their community.
