Restaurants, Coffee Shops, Pubs & Eateries in and around Chintsa
As a regular to Chintsa and the East Coast area, I enjoy visiting the different eateries available in the area. This can sometimes be tricky as, due to seasonal demand, many of these eateries are not open daily. So, to save you the hassle of identifying which are open on any particular day, here is your guide to eating out daily in Chintsa and on the East Coast.
The Cricketer
The Cricketer is an evening steakhouse, renowned for it’s smashing steaks. On Sundays it offers a breakfast buffet, well worth a visit. See opening hours below.
The Blue Goose Cafe
In Crossways Village you will find the beautiful Blue Goose Cafe. This charming light and airy coffee shop is situated in the heart of the village, overlooking the dam. Serving great coffee, breakfasts and light meals, this is our favourite stop on our way out to Chintsa. Don’t rush, relax and enjoy the great food and relaxed village environment. The Furnace
The Furnace is also situated within the Crossways Village overlooking the dam, and is a family restaurant with a kiddies play area. This restaurant offers gourmet pizza’s, steaks and burgers and is a fun place for the whole family. See opening hours below.
Yang Yang Kitchen
Yang Yang Kitchen is a Chinese Restaurant & Sushi Bar situated in the Crossways Village overlooking the dam. See opening hours below.
Fish & Farrier Country Pub & Restaurant
The Fish & Farrier Country Pub & Restaurant is a typical ‘local’ offering quality pub grub and a full bar. This is where the locals go to watch ‘the game’, take part in Karaoke (Wednesday evenings) or to enjoy live entertainment on Friday and Saturday evenings. No need to worry about this one being closed, their advertised hours are… always open!
Sama Sama Coffee & Smoothie Hotspot
Also situated within the Crossways Village, Samp Sama Coffee & Smoothie Hotspot offers great coffee, smoothies and healthy snacks. See opening hours below.
The Jikeleza Pub & Grub
The Jikeleza Pub & Grub is a Sports Bar with full DSTV Sports channels. It is a pub & grub with Braai facilities, where friends go to meet. See opening hours below.
The Lighthouse Restaurant (Umnenga Lodge)
The Lighthouse Restaurant at Umnenga Lodge is open Wednesdays – Fridays only. This bright and airy restaurant offers great burgers, steaks and schnitzels. Keep an eye on their Facebook Page for their weekly specials. See opening hours below.
The Gecko Lounge @ Glengariff Lodge
The Gecko Lounge is open to the public on Friday evenings only. This typical East Coast Resort holds a dinner evening once a week that is open to the public. Keep an eye on their Facebook Page for updates on the menu of their Friday evening special.
Areena Quays Restaurant
Situated inside the beautiful Areena Private Resort which is home to the famous giraffe Abby, Areena Quays Restaurant is a laid back restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating on the banks of the Kwelera River. The family restaurant serves a mixed menu including light meals, pizza’s, fish and seafood as well as grills. They also offer a buffet lunch on Sundays. See opening hours below.
Tea in the Trees
Tea in the Trees is a beautiful country venue at the gateway to the Wild Coast and offers a wide range of events & venues, including a lovely country restaurant. It offers indoor and outdoor seating and has a country market on the 1st and last Sunday of each month. See opening hours below.
The Jolly Roger
The Chintsa Bay Restaurant is situated in Chintsa West and is open 6 days a week. The menu is a mixed menu including breakfasts, light meals including toasted sandwiches & burgers, fish & seafood, as well as a main menu that includes steaks, chops and ribs, to name but a few. The Emthombeni Restaurant @ Inkwenkwezi
The Emthombeni Restaurant at Inkwenkwezi offers an authentic African dining experience. Famous for their Wednesday Burger evening, guests have the option of tackling the GIANT burger or choosing from the ala carte menu. This restaurant also serves a buffet lunch on Sundays. The Clubhouse @ Olivewood
Modelled on the original 1920 Schafli farmhouse, The Clubhouse at Olivewood is situated on the sprawling veranda of the actual clubhouse on the Olivewood Private Golf Estate. Breakfasts, light meals including sandwiches and trammezzini’s as well as steaks are available on the menu, which also includes a selection of wines and champagne. See opening hours below.

Emeraldvale Brewery
The Emeraldvale Brewery is a local craft brewery and pub restaurant situated in Chintsa West. They offer a unique pub menu that includes a kiddies menu. This is a great family restaurant and a must visit when in the area. See opening hours below.
Prana Lodge
Prana Lodge is a 5-star award winning lodge, spa and fine dining restaurant, situated in the heart of Chintsa East. Reservations can be made for breakfast, lunch or dinner, all of which are set menu’s. Lunch and dinner include a starter, a choice of two main meals and a dessert. On Sundays, the main is tapas.
Village Bistro
The Village Bistro is the pumping heart of Chintsa East village. This laid back ecclectic bistro offers a range of light meals, great coffee, updates on what is happening in and around the village, and an array of nick snacks for sale. See opening hours below.
Crawfords Beach Resort
Boasting the best views in Chintsa, the Crawfords Beach Resort is open to the public 7 days a week for the entire year baring their high season which is from 15 Dec – 10 Jan. They offer breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets as well as an ala carte menu daily from 2pm – 5pm. See opening hours below.
