‘I Love Sound’ Hearing Awareness Campaign, 4 – 6 September
A very special THANK YOU to our sponsors: The Bonza Bay Rotary Club, Free Range Kids, Senza Africa Quantity Surveyors, Century 21, Reflecto Signs and Second Office for making it possible to give out colourful, informative brochures with mini ‘I Love Sound’ hampers to adults (coffee, sugar and sweets) and ‘I Love Sound’ peak caps to kids! Over the three days we gave out 600 hampers, 400 camps and about 700 brochures. Each of the 100 artists whose artwork was on display will receive a peak cap (delivered to their school).
We want to congratulate our three winners: Mvumelwano Kalipa (St. Anne’s Primary), Emma-Jane Hawkes (Cambridge Primary) and Anelisa Ntlati (St. Anne’s Primary) for their beautiful artworks! Out of a total of 740 votes by the public, your artworks stood out by far! Each of these learners received a R200 voucher from FREE RANGE KIDS.
St. Anne’s Primary deserved to win our school voucher for the school with the entry that had the most overall votes (Mvumelwano Kalipa), the R500 voucher from Free Range Kids!
The SA Association of Audiologists (SAAA-EC), The Carel du Toit Centre (East London) and the Speech & Hearing Department of Frere Hospital want to thank Vincent Park Centre, the public and especially each and every learner and Primary School who participated in showing how we should love sound!
On behalf of the SAAA and the ‘Shake Your Sugar’ Awareness Campaign, I want to especially acknowledge the staff of the Carel du Toit Centre, the Audiologists from Frere Hospital as well as the Audiologists/Speech Language Therapists from Luanet Smit’s practice who freed up their time and resources to support the drive to share our passion for sound and hearing!
Our hearing is an ‘invisible’ sense and yet it keeps us connected through allowing us to interact and communicate freely!
