Anti-poaching wildlife message goes sky high
This week sees two Emirates A380 aircrafts take off adorned with special livery featuring our endangered wildlife. This is in support of United for Wildlife, a global collaboration of several of the world’s leading wildlife charities.
The livery aims to raise awareness of the illegal trade and highlight just how urgent the need for action is, according to a statement from Emirates in Dubai.
Statistics are horrific with over 1,290 rhino poached in Africa last year and approximately 30,000 African elephants poached every year.
Over 1,000 rangers are estimated to have been killed over the past ten years too, as they are often ill-equipped against poaching syndicates who have enhanced their own equipment.
Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline said in a statement:
“Emirates believes that the global transport industry, including airlines, can play a significant role to break the supply chain of illegal wildlife trade.”
The first of the A380 aircrafts left for London yesterday, 2nd November and the second will leave for Mauritius on Thursday, 5th November. Each aircraft will display a different design but both featuring endangered wildlife.
