The Southern Ground Hornbill – 2020 Bird of the Year
The Endangered Wildlife Trust is hosting a wild chat with André Botha about the Southern Ground Hornbill, the bird of 2020, to educate the public and provide meaningful entertainment.
South Africa (29 June 2020) – At the start of the lockdown in South Africa, the Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT) launched an online series of talks surrounding all wildlife subjects. The Trust brought in experts to discuss and educate people on a variety of topics. The Endangered Wildlife Trust is hosts the Wild Chats to provide meaningful entertainment to anyone wanting to learn more about conservation.

The Southern Ground Hornbill is South Africa’s Bird of the Year for 2020 and was the focus of a decade-long study by the Endangered Wildlife Trust. This Wild Chat with André Botha, manager of the Vultures for Africa Programme, will showcase some of the findings and share highlights from the fieldwork conducted to gain more insight into the fascinating lives of these charismatic, predominantly ground-living birds in one of Africa’s premier conservation areas.
