Grandad’s Army set to raise funds for local charities
Wine and Dine in style at this year’s Charity Spring Ball; an evening dedicated to raising funds for two East London based charities; the Eyabantwana Trust and Guardians of Hope.
An evening organised by the ‘Grandads Army’ is certainly going to be an evening worth attending. Step into an enchanted garden, filled with wonder and magic, indulge in a delicious three course meal, and enjoy the extravagant entertainment by Centrestage making this an evening to remember.
The Grandads Army are a group of social cyclists that have chosen to ride for a cause each year, by cycling from East London through to Gordan’s Bay over four consecutive days, and then cycle together at the Cape Town Cycle Tour in aid of the Grandads Army cause. The Grandads Army Memorial Ride is their flagship event, and helps raise over R250 000 each year. This year the group has chosen to spread their wings and organise four fundraising events this year, which will help raise funds for the Eyabantwana Trust, as well as Guardians of Hope this September.
The Eyabantwana – For the Children Trust is an independent non-profit Trust established to support the work of the Eastern Cape Paediatric Surgical Services based at the East London Hospitals. Founded in 1995, as the referral centre for the Eastern Cape, the Eastern Cape Paediatric Service provides surgical care for newborns and infants with complex congenital problems; children with cancer; children with burns and others who have been injured; and many other surgical conditions in older children. The Trustees and those involved in the trusts work do so on a pro bono basis. The Trustees represent the broad East London community and are drawn from the health, education, business and legal spheres.
Guardians of Hope – provides a home, love and care to abandoned as well as babies given up at birth by their parents. Where-ever possible this organisation seek and support family reunification. Where this is not possible, Guardians of Hope support adoption processes. Babies cared for at Guardians of Hope are between newborn and one year of age. The home is beautifully laid out to ensure that all the needs of the babies are catered for spiritually, emotionally, physically and mentally. All babies that are placed into this organisations care are done so by the East London Child Welfare, CMR and Social Development.
Help raise the much needed funds these organisations require by attending an evening of dinner, dance and so much more. Take part in the evenings auction and donation draw that will contribute to the funds raised for the evening.
