Sisa Dukashe Stadium, Mdantsane – East London

The Sisa Dukashe Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Mdantsane near East London in the Eastern Cape.

With a capacity of 30 000, this stadium is a popular rugby and soccer venue,  hosting all levels of rugby and soccer from coaching clinics up to PSL soccer matches.  It has also hosted the MultiChoice Diski Challenge with competing clubs including Cape Town City, Mamelodi Sundowns, Baroka FC, Kaiser Chiefs, Bidvest Wits, Polokwane City, Chippa United and Orlando Pirates.

The stadium opened in 1973 after receiving support from the then Ciskei government’s Xhosa Development Corporation and was originally designed to be a rugby stadium.  It was named after local businessman and rugby enthusiast, Sisa Dukashe, who owned a bottle store in NU1.

Today this stadium is used for both rugby and soccer and is well supported by the local community in Mdantsane and East London.
