Hudson Park High School collects 4.7 tonnes of water!
Well-done Hudson Park: 4,7 tonnes of water collected!
The Hudson Park family has collected 4,7 tonnes of water which will be transported to Aliwal North. Aliwal North is suffering from one of the worst droughts since 1933.
The Primary School and High School had encouraged learners to bring water from home in 2 litre and 5 litre bottles. The response has been overwhelming from our school community. Ian Myburgh, a Grade 9 pupil, brought in an astounding 800 liters.
Hudson Park is a school that is founded on four pillars; academic, physical, cultural and pastoral. Our pastoral pillar is strong. We believe that pupils must be given the opportunity to show compassion towards those who are in need. Nelson Mandela once said that “what counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.” This initiative is all about teaching the learners, of Hudson Park, the great privilege and joy of being able to help others.
Hudson Park will be conducting another drive, if needed by the Aliwal North community, on Friday, the 29th of January. We hope to collect as much as we have been able to this week.
A big thank-you to PEUGEOT and their staff for assisting Hudson Park in collecting the water after which they will be delivering to Aliwal North.
