Don’t despair Mum & Dad, East London Holiday Clubs are here!
Keeping the kids occupied during the school holidays can be challenging to say the least and hearing “I’m bored” repeatedly throughout the day can certainly be testing on the nerves! But don’t despair because here in East London, there are solutions to your kids’ boredom and they come in the shape of Holiday Clubs!
The churches in our city are fantastic when it comes to putting together activities for different age groups. Here are a few different options that you can consider when it comes to keeping the kids occupied and, moreover, happy!!
EVEREST HOLIDAY CLUB AT STIRLING BAPTIST CHURCH AND GONUBIE BAPTIST CHURCH
Both Stirling Baptist Church and Gonubie Baptist Church are running the Everest Holiday Club from 29th June to 3rd July 2015. Both churches will be running a jam-packed program filled with of a variety of activities including arts and crafts, singing and games, all centred around Bible teachings. The different age groups, times and venues for Everest Holiday Club at Stirling Baptist Church are as follows:
Age 4 and 5 – 8am to 11am at Stirling Presbyterian Church (pre-registration essential).
Grade R and Grade 1 – 8am to 12.30pm at Selborne College (pre-registration essential).
Grade 2 to Grade 4 – 8am to 1pm at Stirling Baptist Church (walk-ins on the day are welcome).
Grade 5 to 7 – 8am to 1pm at Stirling High School (walk-ins on the day are welcome).
There is no charge to attend this Holiday Club but donations are welcome for those who would like to contribute towards running costs. For registration forms please email the church. Located at 33 Drake Road in Nahoon, you can contact Stirling Baptist Church on 043 735 2340.
As mentioned above, the Gonubie Baptist Church will be running the same Holiday Club from 29th June to 3rd July but the times will run from 8.30am to 12.30pm for Grades R to 7. You can pre-register at the church office but walk-ins are also welcome. There is no cost for the Holiday Club but donations are welcome. Gonbuie Baptist Church is situated at 2 Watsonia Crescent and you can contact the church office on 043 740 3722.
OCEAN EPIC HOLIDAY CLUB AT EVERYDAY PEOPLE CHURCH
Everyday People Church (formerly Greenfields Christian Church) will be running the Ocean Epic Holiday Club from 29th June to 3rd July for Grades 1 to 7, from 8am to 1pm daily. There is a cost of R70 to attend but if you register before 21st June, you pay only R60. Everyday People Church is situated at 72 Jan Smuts Avenue in Greenfields and you can contact the office on 043 736 3040.
HIGH SEAS AT FIRST CITY BAPTIST CHURCH
First City Baptist Church will be hosting the High Seas Holiday Club Adventure from 29th June to 3rd July for Grades R to 7, 9am to 12pm daily. It is not essential to pre-register your child for the Holiday Club but you are more than welcome to do so. There is no charge for the week but donations are welcome to those who would like to contribute. First City Baptist Church is situated at 2 Belgravia Crescent in town and you can contact them on 043 722 4741 for further details.
BEACON BAPTIST SON SPARKS LAB HOLIDAY CLUB
The Beacon Baptist Church will be running a fun Holiday Club from 6th to 10th July and they cater for Grades R to 7. This year’s theme is Son Sparks Lab, the registration cost is free and starts at 7.30am to 12.15pm. You can download a registration form here and email it to the church. PANDAMANIA AT CAMBRIDGE BAPTIST CHURCH
Cambridge Baptist Church will be running Pandamania as the theme for this year’s Holiday Club, it is open to children of all ages and it is not necessary to be a member of Cambridge Baptist Church to attend. The Holiday Club will run from 29th June to 3rd July, from 7am. Other Holiday Club activities happening during the school holidays include a 1 Day Mosaic Workshop with Creation Station on 7th July 2015. There is plenty of fun to be had with Jaci during this exciting morning class which will be held at Sharon’s Art School from 9am to 12.30pm. The cost of the workshop is R300 per person and all materials will be provided. You can contact Jaci on 082 840 7166 for bookings and Sharon’s Art School is located at 12 Epsom Road in Stirling.
The Adventures Kitchen Holiday Club is centred around, yes you guessed it, the kitchen, a place where all kids love to be! Natasha-Lee Lottering will be running the club and they take place from 6th to 10th July (for the 6 to 10 year olds) and from 13th to 17th July (for the 11 to 14 year olds). Hours are from 9am to 1pm and the cost per child is R500 (per week). You can contact Natasha-Lee on 072 454 8166 or email her.
Let your kids learn about the great artists of this world at the Up In A Swirl Holiday Art Club. There is plenty of awesome, relaxed, happy and creative fun to be had with Melanie from 29th June to 2nd July (from 2pm to 4pm) and from 6th to 9th July (from 9am to 11am). The club is open to those age between 5 and 10 years and the cost is R350 per week (materials and snack included). Contact Melanie on 084 700 9743 or email her for further information and bookings.
