Durban Historical Buildings

The Tudor-styled Playhouse originally opened in 1935 and in the 1980s this historical landmark was restored and is still in use

This was the first town hall; the foundation stone was laid in 1883 and it was used as the Town Hall from 1885 to 1910

The Durban City Hall is today home to a Public Library, the Natural Science Museum and the Durban Art Gallery

The old Durban Railway Station building was completed in 1892; it’s a Victorian Style railway station


During World War 2 Miss Gale’s German origins and eastern connections led to rumours of her being a spy

Where Jan Hofmeyr Road in Westville today runs, use to be the old ox-wagon route from Durban

The Bellair Station was built in 1899 and is a nice example of Colonial architecture
