Feeding birds at the Amanzimtoti Bird Sanctuary
The Amanzimtoti Bird Sanctuary, or sometimes called The Bird Park, is home to about 150 species of birds. The Bird Park is very well kept, with lawns, forest and a large pond. There are braai facilities and an area with tables and benches where families can get together and have a picnic. The water birds are happy to walk up to you to see if you have something to eat, so don’t forget to bring a couple of extra slices of bread along.
The self-guided trails wind through the sanctuary and are fairly easy to finish, even if you’re not fit. Along the way you’ll see many birds.
This bird sanctuary boasts 6ha of land with 24-hour security. It is open 7 days a week from 6am to 6pm. There are toilets, a picnic area, braai facilities and a visitor’s centre. Contact the Amanzimtoti Bird Sanctuary on 031 903 1203.
