African Bird of Prey Sanctuary, near Pietermaritzburg
There is a tea garden with amazing views and a gallery where you will find unusual pieces of African art.
This is not the reason why you want to visit this sanctuary. The reason is that you will learn interesting facts about birds of prey and get to see a live show where these birds fly right past you and look for food around your feet. The show times are daily at 10:30am and on the weekends and holidays again at 3pm. There is a vast selection of birds to admire, expect to spend quite a bit of time strolling past the cages and sitting on benches watching the eagles, owls, vultures, falcons and hawks.
