“Life of a Snake Rescuer”
Crocworld Presents “Life of a Snake Rescuer”
Crocworld Conservation Centre is proud to host renowned snake catcher, herpetologist and founder of KwaZulu-Natal Amphibian & Reptile Conservation on Saturday 13 April, as part of its monthly environmental lecture series, which will take place at the Centre’s Fish Eagle Café at 09h00. Tickets will cost just R50.00 and include an Early Bird Breakfast.
The author of “Life of a Snake Rescuer”, Nick Evans, will be sharing his insight and vast experiences on the same topic, most especially the greatly feared and misunderstood black mamba.
“I will give people an insight into the fun times, and the tough times, of what it’s like conserving some of Africa’s most iconic snake species. Conserving snakes is a challenging task, putting one to the test on numerous occasions,” said Evans.
Evans added that his task is filled with rewarding, educational and exciting moments, making it really worthwhile. He hopes to give people a better understanding of why snakes deserve to be conserved, and an appreciation for these remarkable reptiles.
His book is a personal account of his most memorable snake rescue adventures and his journey to forming an NGO as a chapter of The Lawrence Anthony Earth Organization in 2015.
“I have written about my most thrilling, interesting, humorous and adrenaline-pumping adventures, in this unique line of work!” said an enthusiastic Evans.
“We are waiting in anticipation to host a herpetologist of Nick’s caliber. The audience can certainly expect to engage with Nick and hear some thrilling experiences of his many reptile encounters, and gain a greater understanding of these much-feared creatures,” said Martin Rodrigues, manager of Crocworld Conservation Centre.
According to Rodrigues, the coastal areas of KwaZulu-Natal are highly populated with snakes, due to its density and rich biodiversity. Gaining knowledge about how to protect these reptiles will greatly contribute to the preservation of the delicate ecosystems to which they belong.
Registration opens at 08h30. Tickets include entrance into Crocworld where guests can enjoy the many bird sanctuaries as well as the reptile centre and onsite indigenous nursery. Guests can also purchase Evans’ book on the day for R250.00.
